October is the international Breast Cancer Awareness month. Since 2005, Genève-Servette Hockey Club has teamed up with the Breast Cancer Network to raise the awareness of its supporters, both male and female, since the illness also affects men.
Breast cancer is the most frequent form of cancer for women. In our region, about one in every eight women is faced with it. In Geneva, women living with breast cancer represent over 10% of the population!
Across the world, a pink ribbon symbolises breast cancer awareness, which is why GSHC used the colour for its Pink Nights organised by GSHC during a home match in October (the tenth to date!). It should be noted that GSHC was the first team in Switzerland to play in this colour.
True to the slogan ‘United against cancer’, Genève-Servette Hockey Club and the Breast Cancer Network join forces to combat breast cancer and the consequences it has on the lives of affected women and their relatives.
